Hoda Amani Hamedani, PhD

Research Interests

Nanomaterials, Electrochemical Devices and Sensors, Drug Delivery, Neural Interfaces, Power generation for Implantable Microdevices

Dr. Hoda Amani Hamedani is a Senior Research Associate in Materials Science and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and an investigator with the Advanced Platform Technology (APT) Center at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center (LSCVAMC). Her research efforts focus on developing multifunctional materials and nanostructured platforms for electrochemical devices, drug delivery, and power generation in implantable microdevices. She received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where she focused on the design, fabrication, and characterization of novel nanostructured electrode materials for electrochemical energy conversion devices. Her research has resulted in publications in several high impact journals such as the Advanced Functional Materials. After her Ph.D., she expanded her scholarly interests in technologies for human health across multiple fields of basic and translational research by engaging in R&D activities in the biotech industry in addition to academia. Her goal is to implement nanotechnology to develop new materials with precisely tailored properties at the nano and atomic scale to render novel and complex biomedical device functions. Her current research is focused on developing and integrating novel nanostructured platforms into flexible bioelectronics and implantable microdevices to enhance their functionality for various applications such as sustained and localized drug delivery, neural interfacing, sensing and in vivo power generation.
